Design-A-Day 001

Well here it is guys, my first design-a-day and its a biggie.  This design was actually my final major project at university.  It earned me a 2:1 so it cant be that bad can it? RIGHT?
Anyway if you want you can have a read of my technical report here.

This concept is made up of an aluminium body and features a middle portion that remains hidden inside the body when not in use. When needed the user pulls the product in two by pulling the handle upwards. This is controlled by tracks running up the side of the product. The middle portion lights up automatically when the unit is pulled apart. The light portion of this solution is removable for if the user needs to travel on foot and needs a portable light source with them. The product can also be used as a roadside flare. Tripod style legs slide from the bottom of the product. These legs are extendable as well as featuring spikes if one needs to pierce soft ground.
